The currency was introduced in 1972, replacing the Jamaican Dollar.The Cayman islets Dollar is pegged to the US Bone at a stable exchange rate of 1 KYD = 1.20 USD. This makes it one of the strongest currencies in the Caribbean region. This stability is of particular signi cance as the Cayman islets are a major scal centre, known for their coastal banking and investment services.
